The São José de Macapá Fort is, for the amapaenses, one of the greatest references, because it represents a cultural, architectural and historical landmark. It is located on the banks of the Amazon River, in front of the amapaense capital.
It was erected between 1764 and 1782 by the hands of blacks, Indians and slaves of Portuguese colonization.
