Religious architecture, Mannerist, Baroque, Rococo. Conventual Franciscan church with a marked longitudinal planimetry and majestic proportions that gives continuity to the constructive tradition of the architecture of the regionally implanted mendicant Orders, characteristic of post-Tridentine Mannerist spatiality, as is evident in the austerity of the walls and in the overall solidity of the building. in the solution of the roof in ribbed vault and keys of stonework the anachronistic pursuit of the Gothic tradition. From the time of the Initial Baroque it dates the portal-altarpiece of the frontier, where it is felt the enduring of the late-Mannerist repertoire enriched by pinnacles and scroll decorations. The carved altarpieces of the second chapel on the side of the Gospel, from the chapel on the side of the Epistle, called the Chapel of Vieira and the chancel correspond to the Rococo paradigms of the reigns of D. José I and D. Maria I, respecting that of the chapel -the Franciscan tradition in its polychromy of dark brown tonalities, only broken to the slightest by the notes of gilding and polychrome. The remarkable quality of the construction, with a clearly erudite facade, where the great Mannerist elaboration of the Chapel of the Vieira, profusely decorated, with a very austere spirit, characteristic of the post-Tridentine epoch, presides over the general composition of the property.
