Turkey
Turkey, officially the Republic of Turkey, is an Eurasian country that occupies the entire peninsula of Anatolia in the extreme west of Asia and extends through Eastern Thrace (also known as Rumelia) in southeastern Europe. It is one of six independent states whose population is mostly Turkish. It borders eight countries: the northwest with Bulgaria, the west with Greece, the north-east with Georgia, Armenia and the enclave of Nakichevan of Azerbaijan, the east with Iran and the south-east with Iraq and Syria. The Mediterranean Sea and Cyprus lie to the south, the Aegean Sea to the southwest-west and the Black Sea to the north. The Sea of Marmara, the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles (which together form the Turkish Straits) mark the border between Thrace and Anatolia and separate Europe from Asia.

To avoid misplacement, it is recommended that it be affixed to a documentary medium (for example, a passport).

In no case should the stamp be allowed to expire, as this may involve a heavy fine.

Gastronomy
According to experts in gastronomy, the richest cuisines in the world are Turkish, French and Chinese. The abundance and diversity of food resources are the main reasons for Turkish cuisine's richness, which is accepted as an inseparable part of Turkey's tourism. The other reasons for this diversity are the coexistence of different nationalities and their reciprocal relations in the food culture. There are marked differences in food culture, variety of foods, and cooking techniques from one region to another. Turkish gastronomy is synonymous with vegetables, meats, pasta, eclectic dishes and mouth-watering desserts.
Climate
Winter is mild on the shores of the Aegean and the Mediterranean. However, in the central plateau of Anatolia, the winter is more rigorous, registering negative temperatures and frequent snow, in the months of November to February. In the months of June to September, especially on the Mediterranean coast, the temperatures are quite high.
Safety
Security in the main tourist centers or with a greater influx of public (Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya and Cappadocia) is not, in normal circumstances, particularly disturbing. However, special attention is paid to areas close to borders with countries in conflict.
Health
Due to the recent poliomyelitis epidemic that has affected some countries, notably Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Nigeria and Tajikistan, all travelers traveling to these countries via Turkey will be required to provide proof of vaccination against this disease.

The sanitary network has deficiencies in the Anatolian plateau. Its quality is reasonable in the main tourist centers. Consumption of bottled water is advisable.

It is advisable to sign an insurance policy with a foreign insurance company that also covers medical expenses, including hospital admission.
