La Romana
La Romana is the third largest city in the Dominican Republic. The city is the capital of the province of La Romana in the southeast, opposite Catalina Island. The Roman name comes from a scale that was used to weigh goods for export. Santa Rosa de Lima is the patron saint of La Romana.
The city is close to several other cities, such as San Pedro de Macoris and the national capital, Santo Domingo de Guzmán. The city is a hub for a growing tourist industry, with several nearby tourist spots such as Bayahibe, Dominicus, Cottage and the growing number of golf resorts surrounding the area.
Tourism
A very popular way to get around the city is by motorcycle rides.

Visit Altos de Chavon. This "village" was made by reproducing the colonial architectural style of the 15th century. There are many restaurants, a museum with Taino artifacts, breathtaking views of the Chavon River. This is a charming replica of the Italian village that was built by a man as a gift for his daughter.

La Romana offers a convenient list of tours available to tourists staying in this southeastern region of the Dominican Republic.

La Romana has a lot to offer. If you're a night person, you'll be surprised how many different things you can do. For starters, on certain nights, resorts and venues organize beach parties, activities and games. Everyone is welcome because they think having more people makes it so much fun.

The list of things you can do is endless. This list includes snorkeling, diving, golf, swimming, shopping, sightseeing, spa and more.
Gastronomy
The crop mix that appears in many Caribbean countries is no exception in the Dominican Republic, let alone in the La Romana area. In addition to the typical cuisine of the country, full of colorful dishes that highlight the presence of great vegetables and fruits in both La Romana and Bayahibe, the Altos del Chavón (and where to go from Casa de Campo) can find many other restaurants. All kinds of people enjoy international cuisine. But when you travel somewhere, the best way to integrate with your surroundings and discover its secrets and immerse yourself in its culture is to taste the typical gastronomy to know the soul of a city ...

Dishes made in the Dominican Republic will have ingredients such as rice, fruits like vegetables or coconuts, and specialties like Dominican oregano. One often tastes a dish that is considered by many to be the emblem of the Dominican Republic: the flag. Prepared with white rice, beans and meat with chicken or veal (usually stuffed).

Dominican pastries are sweet and delicious, and sometimes specialties are made with the region's magnificent tropical fruits.
While the drink is more traditional, rum is probably one of the best in the world.
Weather
On land or in water, La Romana's climate is generally; Constantly perfect. No more than five degrees separates the air temperature of La Romana from the temperature of La Romana from the ocean, creating a perfect climate for all activities.

The average temperatures in La Romana range from 29 ° C to 33 ° C, but can be much warmer.

The weather conditions in La Romana are naturally tropical, as is the whole of the Dominican Republic, heavily influenced by the strong and constant northeast winds. The rainy season lasts from May to November, peaking in October, with heavy daily rains in the late afternoon.

Visitors to the area should be aware of hurricanes between June and November, but are very rare. Hurricane trails are far from the La Romana region, but unexpected winds are known to drag them to the island. As locals have become more familiar and more aware of the impact of hurricanes and places of substantial elevation, the city is now better adapted to cope with the effects of torrential storms.
