It belongs to the University of La Serena, dependent on the Department of Mining Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering. It is located on Infante street with Anfión Muñoz, on the Ignacio Domeyko Campus.

Santiago-La Serena: Air and land routes. Leave La Serena on the road that leads through the Elqui Valley, to the east. The road passes through the towns of Vicuña (66 km from La Serena), and Rivadavia at kilometer 83. At this point, turn off onto a path to the right, until the end of the route, where Pisco Elqui is located, in the kilometer 103. The whole road is paved.
It contains around 7,000 mineralogical samples from mining districts located in different parts of the country and abroad. Among the most interesting pieces you can see the silver Rosiculars from Chanarcillo, Rubies from India, Diamonds from Brazil and Africa, Lapislázulis from Chile, meteorites, fossils and rocks that make up the earth's crust and unique gold minerals from the El Indio deposit.
It is open from Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 12:30 and from 14:30 to 17:00.
